Everything…Including The Kitchen SinkThe kitchen sink can be dirtier than a toilet seat.  Yet, we wash dishes in it!  Ew!  In this blog learn how to properly clean your sink (including a video) so you can ensure your family’s health.

PROBLEM:

We clean chicken, put scraps down the drain, and wash dishes all in the same place thinking that the hot water will disinfect it. You may also use your sponge to clean the sink….that same sponge you used to wash dishes!!! NOOOOOO!  (By the way, please see my previous blog on the sponge in your kitchen).

How To Properly Clean Your Kitchen Sink

Daily, or especially after you have used your sink for any type of food prep, do these three easy steps to clean and disinfect your kitchen sink:

  • Sprinkle baking soda generously around the entire sink, and then spray white distilled vinegar/water mixture over the baking soda.
  • Let that solution set for at least 5 minutes.
  • Rinse with water and wipe out with a paper towel or dish cloth. Put the used dish cloth immediately in the laundry for washing.

Baking soda and vinegar are your friends for disinfecting!
