Our kitchen and bathroom drains are rarely cleaned that is why they tend to let out a horrible odor, especially when the weather warms up. I was taught how to clean my clients homes drains the eco friendly way by the water management department in Round Rock. Ingredients needed are 1/4 cup Kosher salt, a cup of ice, a glass of white distilled vinegar and baking soda. FIrst pour 1/2 of the salt mixture down the drain, followed by the ice cubes, the remainder of the salt, then the baking soda and distilled vinegar. It will immediately bubble because of the chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda so flip the switch to the disposal and let the ingredients do their job. If you have a double sink be sure to do one side at a time. The salt will act as a corrosive to clean the drain walls. The baking soda is an odor absorber however when it reacts with the vinegar it helps to stir up the ice and salt to scrub the walls of the drain. The vinegar is acidic for the cleaning and tackles the odor again after the baking soda. No animals, humans or environments were damaged in this cleaning. Austin eco friendly maid service.
